Fleksy Acquired by Pinterest

Hi Fleksy Friends,

Today we’re announcing some big news at Fleksy. Our team is joining Pinterest!  As some of you may know, it’s a bit of nostalgic timing as this month marks four years since Fleksy first launched in the iOS store as a standalone app for our wonderful community of blind users – at a time when 3rd party keyboards were not yet supported on the platform.

Over the years it has been our great pleasure to bring you the fastest and most reliable typing experience. Building a keyboard, especially a good keyboard, is not an easy task. In fact, it’s really hard. Without all of your support and feedback it wouldn’t have been possible. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.

Fleksy will remain available in the app stores for the foreseeable future, so no need to worry about being forced to re-learn to type on a alternative keyboard 🙂

As a tribute to our incredible community of users we have made the decision to open-source some of the Fleksy components that the blind and visually impaired community grew to love. We trust you’ll do great things with it.

We’ll update you here and send out a tweet when the open-sourced project is ready for your contributions.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to ashley@fleksy.com.

Wishing you all the best,

Ashley & Kosta

  1. Congrats guys! I’ve been following you since the first ‘keyboard’, and I’ve been part of the beta for so long. God, Fleksy was the best and the fastest keyboard I’ve ever used. Unbelievably it was actually faster typing via Fleksy than on my Macbook Air.

Take care, and I wish you and the team the best for the future!

  2. So sorry to hear the news about Fleksy, but congratulations on joining Pinterest. Does this mean that you will not release a keyboard in the future that is Fleksy – like, perhaps under another name, or is P interest taking over the keyboard you created? Just wondering if there will ever be a similar keyboard released so I can know whether to keep an eye out for it.

It is hard to believe that such a great keyboard will just go away.
