Fleksy Joins the Content Authenticity Initiative

Helping Discern Human-Generated Text Content (HGTC) from AI-Generated Text Content (AIGTC) on Mobile

August 28th 2024, London, UK

Fleksy, from the text input technologies company Thingthing Ltd., is proud to announce it is joining the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), an initiative led by Adobe. Fleksy is currently the only company bringing Text-Centric Provenance technologies to the forefront inside the CAI.

Fleksy is joining other companies focusing on other media such as image, video and sound “content provenance” such as Nodle, Open AI, the BBC and many others.

In fact, the World Economic Forum in Davos 2024 highlighted two critical challenges facing our world: Climate Change and Misinformation. According to recent studies, misinformation spreads six times faster than factual news on social media platforms. Additionally, a survey by Pew Research Center found that 64% of adults believe fake news causes confusion about basic facts of current events, and the cost of misinformation to the global economy is estimated at $78 billion annually

Where existing companies such as OpenAI’s adding a “provenance” watermark to images or videos, Fleksy’s current product developments focuses on “text provenance” by bringing its strong track record of innovation in mobile texting technologies.

Thingthing Ltd’s CEO Olivier Plante, which recently won a prestigious grant from InnovateUK to fight text-related fraud, says “Fleksy is uniquely positioned to address this problem by ensuring the authenticity of Human-Generated Text Content (HGTC) in the first place. With the virtual keyboard being available across any mobile apps, certifying human-generated text content can be very useful in an era where AI will be ubiquitous” He then adds “Certifying HGTC can help reduce political manipulation, content flooding attacks, etc.

The company is eager to contribute to the CAI by working on verifying and certifying Human-Generated Text Content (HGTC) from AI Generated Text Content (AIGTC).

By certifying text content, Fleksy complements the CAI efforts in authenticating images, videos, and sounds, thereby providing a comprehensive solution to content authenticity no other company is capable of due to the lack of a proprietary virtual keyboard technology.

“I’m very happy to join the CAI and contribute to the initiative’s critical mission,” said Francesc Garcia, CTO of Fleksy. “Our Text-Centric Provenance technology will be critical in supporting the global fight against the spread of misinformation by bad actors and device farms. The goal is clear: we should play a role in restoring trust in digital communications and build a healthier information ecosystem.”

Fleksy is currently in talks with a major social network in order to embed its in-app keyboard technology, enabling a certification of HGTC and prevention of AI-driven content manipulation.
